We kicked off our Homeschooling adventure last week and it was absoloutely amazing!!! I am loving it and so are the kids!!! Whew... I thought they would, but you never really know right?! This year we have chosen to use the Five In A Row curriculum (along with other things). So we began our week with such a great childrens book called Night of The Moonjellies.
We learned about the New England States and each of their capitols, Responsibility, Counting Money and of course Moon Jellies!!! We made some fun jellyfish and ocean crafts.
We practiced our spelling in a very fun and messy way!!!
We took a field trip to the Oklahoma Aquarium in Jenks for their homeschool day and got to see real moonjellies up close and in person.
But the boys were the most excited about recreating Mar-Gras (the seaside hotdog stand in the book). They worked together with me in the kitchen preparing the food to get ready for our guests and then they did a great time serving up our food. We made Cheeseburgers, Hotdogs, Onion Rings, Fries, Chocolate Shakes and Orange Soda. We had our family and close friends here to celebrate our first week of homeschool and to show off all our work!!
It was a great week! I am so blessed I get to be at home with my kids and foster this love of learning with them. Yes, there were some rough times, but for the most part it was Great!!! Stay Tuned!!!!
