Well I am a little behind on my blogging, but I am determined to catch up!! Two weeks ago we read Mike Mulligan and His Steam Shovel as our Five In A Row selection. It was a great book! The boys and I had a great time learning about the Industrial Revolution, Steam Powerer Machines, Stewardship and Flexibility, We did a lesson on "personification" and the boys both made up a character and wrote their own books. We did a fun baking activity to help us remember what a Canal is. It was a really fun week and the boys loved this book very much!!!
We did school outside almost everyday that week, the weather was beautiful!!!
These were their very own books that they wrote. We discussed being the author and illustrator.
Chayce was practicing his spelling words in the dirt. His pencil was a stick!!!
One of our vocabulary words that week was "Canal" so to help them remember what that word meant (and for an excuse to eat chocolate) we made a cake then carved out a canal, just as Mike Mulligan and Mary Anne did in the book! The boys loved it!!
It was a terrific week!!
